New Release

For Spanish Speaking parents with Deaf children!  “Daily Activities” is a video series that focuses on commonly used phrases used within everyday life.  It is known that language is best learned through phrases and not simply focusing on single words.  These videos present an authentic approach that a Spanish-speaking parent can use in order to interact with their deaf child.  It’s not a video series with a simple Spanish caption.  Merced actually demonstrates how one can use sign language and speak Spanish simultaneously.

In order for a deaf child to acquire language they must be given language.  This series provides Spanish-speaking individuals with a tool to learn and express language to their deaf child.  Thus, a Spanish speaking family can begin to share ideas and feelings with their deaf child.  As the deaf child receives communication from their parents, they are acquiring language and being exposed to ways to share concepts and experiences back to their parents in a visual code that is understandable to both parties.  Consequently, this series becomes the base for building language and communication skills, a necessity for all families!  A deaf child needs a clear, unambiguous visual representation of a target language, repeated in his environment as constantly as possible – at home, or in school.   This video series will provide the Spanish-speaking parents with a means to model the sign language within the home.  Signing Fiesta suggests that parents use these tapes in addition to interacting with Deaf people within the community to maximize optimal language learning experiences.

NEW RELEASE!  Be the first to own this awesome tape!

This videotape was developed to teach beginning and intermediate sign language interpreters how to sign war related vocabulary.  It was developed due to the events in Iraq 2003, yet the vocabulary is universal to all wars.  This video demonstrates more than 50 vocabulary words using PSE with ASL features.  It also includes practice sentences and a receptive test.  There are two sections on the tape.  The first section is for beginning interpreters.  The second section is for intermediate interpreters; it is the exact same content yet signed at a faster rate.  The video is a great resource for mainstream interpreters that interpret current events or even history classes.  Parents, with deaf children, that have intermediate signing ability would definitely benefit from the tape as well.
